Citation Displacement Brief
The competitor URLs you can actually displace from AI engines, ranked.
The Citation Displacement Brief identifies the competitor URLs you can realistically displace from ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini citations on a 50-keyword set, then ranks them by three independent weakness vectors: backlink fragility, on-page coverage gaps, and ranked-keyword overlap with your domain.
The deliverable is a target list, not a study: ten URLs, each scored for weakness and classified soft, contested, or entrenched, paired with a one-page rationale for why displacement is realistic on that URL.
Built for SEO and content leaders moving from study to intervention.
Which competitor URLs do we actually have a chance of displacing?
What buyers actually ask.
How do I find competitor URLs to displace from AI search?
The Citation Displacement Brief probes a 50-keyword set across three frontier engines, captures the cited URLs, and scores each cited URL for displaceability against three weakness vectors. The output is a ranked top-10 list of URLs your team can target with content work.
Which competitors are realistically displaceable?
The report classifies cited URLs as soft, contested, or entrenched. Soft means thin authority and limited keyword overlap with your domain — a realistic target inside one quarter. Entrenched means brand-anchored authority with deep coverage — not worth the spend. Contested is the strategic call zone.
How is "weakness" actually measured?
Three vectors. Backlink fragility uses third-party backlink graphs to score authority concentration and link-profile decay. On-page coverage gaps measure how much of the buyer-language question space the cited URL actually answers. Ranked-keyword overlap with your domain measures whether your existing authority gives you a credible launch pad.
Why 50 keywords as the base set?
Fifty keywords is the maximum set we can probe at depth across three engines while keeping each probe statistically meaningful and the report scope tight enough to action. Larger campaigns scope as additional 50-keyword sets at $499 per set.
Do I need to be ranking already to use this?
You need a domain with some demonstrated keyword authority to make displacement realistic — usually 100 or more ranked keywords in the vertical. If your domain is below that threshold the report will surface it during scope, and we will recommend Vertical Intelligence Complete as the prior step.
How is this different from a competitor SEO audit?
Standard competitor audits look at organic SERP positions. This report looks at AI citation behavior — which is increasingly orthogonal to SERP rank — and scores displaceability against three vectors specifically calibrated against AI citation patterns rather than classical ranking signals.
What do I get beyond a list of URLs?
The report includes a one-page rationale per URL: why it is being cited today, what the weakness profile looks like, what the realistic displacement intervention is, and what counter-evidence exists. The Counter-Signal Pass is included.
The deliverable, in detail.
- Up to 50 keywords probed across three frontier models — ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini — through their API surfaces, with cited URLs captured and normalized.
- Top 10 displaceable URLs analyzed in depth. Each URL carries a three-vector weakness score, a buyer-question coverage map, and a one-page rationale describing the realistic intervention path.
- Three-vector weakness scoring per URL: backlink fragility, on-page coverage gap, ranked-keyword overlap with your domain. Each vector is reported as a numeric score with the underlying inputs.
- Soft / contested / entrenched classification for every cited URL in the probe corpus, not just the top 10. The full corpus is the companion data file.
How the report is built.
The Citation Displacement Brief begins with a 50-keyword target set, supplied by you or expanded from your domain. Each keyword is rewritten into buyer-language questions and probed across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini through their respective API surfaces.
Cited URLs are captured, normalized, and scored against three independent weakness vectors. Backlink fragility is computed from third-party backlink graphs (we cross-reference two providers) and surfaces authority concentration, anchor diversity, and link decay. On-page coverage measures the share of the buyer-question space the URL actually answers, scored against a question taxonomy mined from community sources. Ranked-keyword overlap measures the lift you would expect from your domain authority crossing into the cited URL's keyword footprint.
A senior analyst reviews the scored URL set and applies the soft / contested / entrenched classification. The top ten are written up with one-page rationales. The Counter-Signal Pass surfaces the strongest reason each named URL might survive a displacement attempt.
Methodology proof is documented in our public white paper, The State of AEO and GEO in 2026, which describes the citation-probing technique and the displaceability scoring rationale.
Counter-Signal Pass is included on every report. The full Foragentis methodology is documented in The State of AEO and GEO in 2026.
What this report does NOT do.
Procurement-grade reports scope themselves. The work below is adjacent and important — and is not in this SKU.
The Citation Displacement Brief does not predict citation outcomes after content changes — it identifies which competitor URLs are weakest, not which interventions will succeed. A separate engagement scopes the intervention itself.
The 50-keyword scope is a target set, not an exhaustive portfolio. If you need a portfolio-wide diagnostic across 500 keywords with quarterly tracking, Citation Drift Atlas is the right product.
AI engine citation behavior shifts between model releases. The displaceability scores are stamped against the model versions probed. We do not promise the soft / contested / entrenched classification holds across a model upgrade.
What the engagement costs.
The Counter-Signal Pass — every thesis stress-tested against its strongest opposing case — is included on every report at no extra cost. See the Counter-Signal block on the catalog hub →

About Foragentis.
Foragentis is an AI research and product company based in Sacramento, California. ForIntel is the business-intelligence research arm — producing custom dossiers across four buyer lanes: Search & AI Visibility, Markets & Locations, Capital & Innovation, and Specialty.
Every claim in a ForIntel report traces to a public source. Findings are re-verified before delivery. The Adversary/Analyst architecture pairs a senior analyst with a counter-signal pass on every thesis. Anything below our statistical thresholds is labeled directional rather than validated.
Methodology is documented in The State of AEO and GEO in 2026 — a 9,900-word, 42-page public study with effect-size statistics across four frontier AI engines.
